Certified medical transcriptionist (CMT)

If you have less than two years experience of acute-care transcription experience then you are eligible for RMT. While you have at least two years experience of acute-care transcription then you are eligible for CMT. If you pass any of these exams then your certification must be renewed after every three years in this duration also required to earned number of continuing education (CE) credits. The number CE depends upon whether you are RMT or CMT. If you are RMT then after initial three years duration you might be able to take the CMT portion of exam.

But some professionals have different view about CMT. As somebody said all that glitters is not gold so at this movement CMT does seem to have much meaning for personal satisfaction because working in professional environment MTs are not ready for preparing of irrelevant questions, subjective grammar, tricky questions, not having feedback on what was missed. I absolutely think it is ridiculous not to allow the use of reference material. While in professional environment MTs work on multiple accounts gradually increase there knowledge according to their work requirement and learn techniques by the passage of time to use dictionaries, related software and internet for finding the relative words and terminologies. Since field experience is better than any study project for Medical Transcriptionist.
